this is awkward and a little touchy but its like the 20th time ive seen it today so i need to say this. im a sick to my stomach over seeing hordes of suburban white kids all over face book throwing the word “n*gga” around like its no big deal or offensive at all. it is ridiculously offensive and that is coming from a white male born into privilege. imagine what any normal african american is feeling/thinking when they see that… maybe no one ever told you, or maybe im just really out of touch but im telling you now, that it is not cool. and its totally unnecessary to boot! if you dont understand the struggle of african americans and other minorities in our society than do some fucking research people. stop saying that shit. i wont even get into “f*ggot” and all other depraved shit that has made its way into our daily slang but for the record those need to stop too. it would be a different debate if it was in a work of art, a film, or a poem or even a song( patti smith comes to mind ) or anything remotely attempting some type of artistry, social commentary/or self expression, but the shit i am talking about is just the meaningless comment on a post or meaningless status update, etc. STOP NOW. we all mess up, we all think terrible shit from time to time or make a comment out of ignorance. i know i have, but please for everyones sake, if you give one inkling of a shit about what is good in the world, start with the most simple thing you have control over. your fucking language.
